A wall of books changes a room. It adds warmth, colour and character that no other furniture can.

We’ve built bookshelves of every kind: full library walls, shelving that climbs a stairwell, bookcases five metres tall and integrated cookbook collections into kitchen islands. Every one is designed around the collection it holds. Paperbacks, art books and magazines all require different depths and heights, so we size the shelves to suit.

Plywood is the ideal material for the job. Books are heavy, and long shelves in lesser materials sag over time. Plywood’s cross-laminated construction keeps them straight.

Shelves can be fixed or adjustable. Fixed shelves let us stagger the vertical supports, giving the whole wall a rhythm; adjustable shelves suit a collection that keeps growing and changing. Many of our library walls combine the two.

The details matter as much as the shelves themselves. Closed cupboards at low level keep the clutter down and put favourite spines at eye height. Slatted covers can hide radiators while letting them breathe. Integrated lighting, sliding doors in a splash of colour, adjustable shelving for a collection that keeps growing all designed in from the start.
