From kitchens to wardrobes, workspaces to storage, we design and make plywood furniture that transforms the way people live in their homes. We know that commissioning a project with us is a big decision. Not just a financial one, but an emotional one too. Whether you’re reworking an existing room or starting from scratch, here’s how we guide you through it from first sketch to final installation.
It all starts with your enquiry. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Even if you’re just gathering ideas, you’re welcome to get in touch or visit our showroom. Send us a floorplan — this could come from your architect, estate agent or be a simple hand-drawn sketch — along with photos of the space if it already exists.
From there, we’ll get back to you with a rough estimate of cost. If that ballpark figure suits your budget, we’ll invite you in for a more in-depth conversation. We’ll talk through your priorities, look at materials and finishes, and prepare a more developed sketch layout and estimate responding to your needs.
Next comes the design phase. Once you’re happy with the direction, we:
It’s a process that balances clarity and creativity. Structured enough to keep things moving, but flexible enough to evolve as your ideas take shape.
Our customers come to us at all stages. Some before they’ve even bought a house, others when building work is already underway. Many aren’t doing any building work at all and are simply looking to refurbish their existing home.
Whatever stage you’re at, it’s never too early to speak to us. If you’re working with an architect, we recommend getting in touch once a first draft layout exists. If you’re adapting an existing space, it’s best to speak to us before committing to any building work. The built-in furniture often affects everything else, so it’s important to make it a priority.
You don’t need a fully formed idea before we speak. That’s what we’re here for.
When you visit our showroom, we’ll talk about how you want to live in your space. It’s important that we consider all the interactions and emotions that you want to support there. These details help shape your layout and design priorities.
You’ll likely have already shared a floorplan and a few reference images with us during the enquiry stage, but feel free to bring anything else that helps you communicate what you like — from moodboards on Pinterest to magazines and saved images on your phone. If you’ve already chosen flooring or other finishes and have samples, bring them along, as it can be really useful to spark discussions on the aesthetic you’re trying to achieve. If it’s an existing space, photos are always useful. For Bespoke kitchens, we’ll carry out our own site survey during the design phase, if required.
We always try to be realistic from the outset. The sketch plan and rough estimate help you understand the likely spend before committing to the design phase.
We’ll also guide you through choices around materials. Do you want it to look immaculate forever? Or are you happy for it to age, develop character and tell a story? Your answer will shape the surfaces and finishes we recommend.
If you’re unsure about colour, don’t worry. We usually suggest starting with the floor. Once that’s decided, the colour palette often falls into place. We love talking about colour.
From first enquiry to installation typically takes around three to four months. The design phase alone usually takes at least four weeks, though we’ve occasionally moved faster.
Our Core kitchens (supply-only) can be delivered more quickly than Bespoke projects. Installation or delivery dates are only confirmed once the main contract is signed. We don’t hold dates during the design phase.
The most successful projects share one trait: momentum. Clear, continuous communication helps the project flow and avoids delays caused by stop-start decision-making.
It also helps to have a clear programme of works from your builder. Surprisingly few projects do. We always recommend asking for one.
And we encourage clients to avoid late-stage changes — particularly to appliances — as they tend to impact both timeline and cost. Early, confident decisions make for a calmer process.
All of our designers are qualified architects. That ensures we think about the whole space, not just the furniture.
We don’t simply draw what we’re given. If a layout isn’t working, we’ll challenge it. Our aim is always to help you arrive at a better solution that is both practical and beautiful.
We design and manufacture every kitchen ourselves in our own workshop. We work exclusively in high-grade birch plywood, with a preference for honest, durable materials. Kitchens and furniture in our Edge style are made using continuous cabinetry, rather than modular units, which gives us greater freedom to design with clarity and intention.
Our designers don’t work on commission. We don’t upsell. We don’t offer gimmicks. Our designers are here to create a space that feels right for you, your home and your life.
You don’t need a finished idea or a renovation in progress. Whether you’re at the very beginning or simply looking to update your home, we’d love to hear from you.
Send us a floorplan and a few photos via our enquiry form, or get in touch via email. We’ll help you take the next step with Uncommon clarity, care and design.
